Anurag Gumber is a doctoral researcher at the Climate Finance & Policy (CFP) research group at ETH Zurich. As part of the GREENFIN project, He examines the role of financial sector in accelerating investment in low-​​​carbon technologies. His ongoing research includes examination of financial maturity of low-carbon technologies, study of syndication and co-investing amongst financial actors in technology investments, and assessment of financial risks in project development.

Prior to commencing his doctoral research, Anurag worked for over eight years in infrastructure development, policy research, and engineering. In his last role, he worked with external pageCPCS Transcom as a Senior Consultant on infrastructure development and transaction advisory for transport (light-​rail, metro, high speed rail), water (transmission and distribution), logistics, and power/energy assets in Africa and Asia. He was also the Project Manager on external pageInfraCo Africa investments in logistics and EV mobility in Liberia and Uganda respectively. Prior to that he worked on urban infrastructure, municipal financial management, and policy analysis in India and the United States.

Academically, Anurag is a external pageCFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Charterholder and holds a Master in Public Administration from external pageHarvard Kennedy School of Government (infrastructure finance and climate resilience), a M.A in Political Science from Indira Gandhi National Open University, and Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from external pageBirla Institute of Technology and Science.

During his studies at Harvard, Anurag has conducted research on the external pagegentrification impacts of climate change through empirical study of real estate prices in Miami, and on external pagefund structures which can aide investment into climate resilience and adaptation. He also was a research contributor for the book external pageClimate Adaptation Finance and Investment in California, authored by Dr. J.M. Keenan.

Anurag spends his personal time on keeping abreast with politics, diplomacy, financial markets, and economics, and on working out, playing tennis and other sports.
