Lena joined the Climate Finance and Policy (CFP) group in February 2021 as a PhD candidate. As part of the GREENFIN project, she conducts research on the role of the financial sector in accelerating investment in low-​​carbon technologies. She is specifically involved in investigating technological changes and their future investment needs for a Paris-​​compatible pathway.

Lena holds a Master’s degree in Management & Technology from external pageTU Munich (Germany) with majors in finance, power engineering and energy markets. She wrote her Master’s Thesis in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s external pageMIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research, analyzing and quantifying errors in corporate carbon footprint disclosures.

In addition to her work at CFP, Lena has been researching on environmental impacts of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies together with an interdisciplinary research team from TU Munich. The results have been published in several articles. In 2021, she also co-founded external pageCCRI, a company providing data on sustainability aspects of cryptocurrencies, blockchain and other technologies.

In her free time, Lena enjoys listening to all kinds of podcast, from pop culture to politics, and likes to go for a run on the panoramic trail of Uetliberg.
